I just recieved word from my mother that the rocket I'm going to use for my level 2 certification arrived. I'm planning to launch it at bong on the Saturday of the June launch. The motor chosen for the attempt is a J350W. If anyone else wants to watch the launch, I have many other launches planned, listed below.

Estes Comanche-3 on all three stages - D12, B6, A8
Estes Silver Comet on E40W - an aerotech motor that fits into an Estes D-size motor mount
Archangel on F22J and F40W
Wind Scar on F40W and G64W
Power on G64W, H73J, and H112J (Tentative)
Dominion test flight on I154J
Dominion CERTIFICATION ATTEMPT on J350W

UPDATE: I will be performing my certification attempt at Bong on Sunday, June 25 instead because that is when Matt will be there for his competition launch and I don't want to miss it this time.

I have also acquired a new rocket that will be called "Wind Scar" at RFS and it has been added to the planned launches to go up on F and/or G motors.

Due to the chance of thunderstorms predicted on Sunday, I will be going to Bong on Saturday again. I hope it goes well for you, Matt.

Good luck to you also...
If the weather is good and you feel like coming down to bong again on sunday, Joe and his dad are coming, so you could probably hop a ride from them. Saturday is my sisters grad party, so I won't be there Saturday. You will have to let me know how many teams were there getting prepped and stuff.

Launch Report

Due to some difficulities, and the fact that I forgot to bring my certification forms (slaps self), some of my launches had to be cancelled, but the ones that were performed were mostly great successes.

1. Archangel on F22J - My first time using Aerotech black jack propellant was a great success. The Archangel once again proved itself to be a great mid-power rocket with a perfect flight and landing.

2. Wind Scar on F22J - The Wind Scar proved to be a bit too heavy for this motor as it did not go very high and had arced over into a nose dive before the parachute deployed. It landed intact anyway and proved a good test flight.

3. Comanche on D12, B6, A8 - The first stage went off perfectly, but I'm not sure what happened during staging. All I saw was the rocket suddenly spinning out as it flew into the sun. The first and third stages were recovered successfully, but the second stage was never found.

4. Dominion on I154J - The dual-deployment rocket Dominion, built for my Level 2 certification, could only have its test flight due to my absent-mindedness. The test flight was a great success, with both parachutes deploying in a timely manner, and a reported apogee of 1078 feet from the altimeter.

5. Wind Scar on G33J - My last flight for the day was to get a real flight out of the Wind Scar. The G motor accomplished that with excellent results. The problem was the landing. I'm not sure what happened, as it didn't seem to come down on anything particularly hard, but one of its fins broke. It's an easy fix, though, and Wind Scar will be back in July.

Current planned launches for July 22:

Estes Saturn V on Aerotech E40W
Wind Scar on G64W
Dominion CERTIFICATION ATTEMPT on J350W

I just wanted to mention that it will likely just be me and my brother driving down to the launch on July 22, so if any member of FSFI wants to come along (preferably members that I know), I should have one seat available. (The fourth seat will be taken up by rockets)

For anyone interested, I will be leaving for Bong at around 0830, and probably getting back around 1800. The launches will include all of the ones shown above, plus possibly a few random estes rockets. If anyone has a rocket with a 29mm motor mount, I have G64W reloads and a casing that you can use for it.

If interested in going, E-mail me at Wraith0713@aol.com

A full launch report is pending until the pictures are developed, and I will then post them concurrently with the report. Look for it on Thursday or Friday.
